New Roof

We sprung for a new roof a couple weeks ago. We were sad to see the slate go, but with a price tag of $75K to replace, or the same price tag as a new asphalt roof to “patch” it, we went with the asphalt.
Here are a couple of before-and-afters:

Now that the roof is replaced, we’re starting to think seriously about what to do with the great attic space!

  1. Based on the photo, your old roof looks like it needed to be replaced. So, it is a good thing that you decided to tend to it early on before if started giving you trouble. Choosing asphalt is also a smart move, as they are known to be durable and have a long lifespan, even if they are exposed to different weather. With it, you won’t worry about replacing your roof for many years.

  2. One of the big advantages of asphalt roof shingles is its cost. Asphalt roofs are efficiently manufactured in high volumes, so basically, it's relatively inexpensive to produce.

  3. The changes that your roof underwent were very significant. It has now transformed into beautiful from worn-off, hehe. Also, asphalt is a good choice, since it is cost-effective, durable, and able to serve its purpose well. Great deal!

  4. Congratulations on your new roof, Alyssa! Hmm. If I may suggest, you can transform your attic into your own entertainment area or design it as your own library. What do you think? Anyway, keep your shingles clean so as not to let them wear out easily.

  5. I commend you for going with the new asphalt roof. It took me seconds to know that the roof was decaying. It could’ve given in anytime! The $75K was money well spent because the new roofs look amazing. Since that roof is pretty huge, I have to ask, how long did it take you to finish it? Hoping to hear some news from you soon!

  6. With the new roof, I might say, you were able to outshine your neighbor's roof. It looks really nice, and what’s best is that it costs less. I hope this can withstand all the hailstorms that might come along your way, though I hope there will be none. 🙂

  7. Wow – lots of great responses! Thank you, everyone!

  8. Your commenters were right, Alyssa. You did a great job on choosing an asphalt roof. Asphalt roof shingles only need a little maintenance which is good for people who are always too busy. 😛 What's more interesting is that they still continue to look good even with little maintenance. 🙂

  9. Very nice! I love the design! Who did you have do your roof?
